hi folk. i am sure you are all aware of three d printers. was wondering if anyone knew when and perhaps how much they will cost? will they replace our current printers?

um... 3D printers aren't meant to print like traditional printers do. they can't replace regular printers because they aren't meant to function the same way. A traditional printer prints out things on paper. A 3D printer takes 3D images from the computer and generates a plastic replica of the immage. For example, if you had a picture of a specific gun or a toy car, you could literally print out a toy car thats' plastic or a replica of a gun. So no, 3D printers won't replace traditional printers, and they cost in the range of a few thousand dollars. The materials used to print the #D replicas is also quite expensive. These printers also take up a lot of space: About the size of a small kitchen table.

ok, but would it feel exactly like the toy car? or would it just look like it.
could you feel the representation on the paper? i mean, its not like a mold that it makes the plastic in the exact mold, right?
